Responsible body

The legal responsible body of the Marktoberdorf Whitsun festivals is the Consortium of German Choral Associations
   
The Consortium of German Choral Associations is the voluntary merger of all German choral associations, who work at federal level.
It acts as an overlapping representation of interests for the choral world in Germany and has been founded on may 21st, 1952 at Bielefeld Germany as a consortium. Its legal seat is Marktoberdorf.
   

The aims and duties are - among others:

  • to foster and to cultivate the vocal music making as a cultural collective duty and to coordinate the action needed
  • information and exchange of experience between the member associations
  • to coordinate the audit procedures and the awarding ceremony of the Federal President's Zelter-Plakette
  • to represent the German Choral Scene in the respective panels of the German Music Council and the International Federation for Choral music (IFCM)
  • the support of projects for the promotion of choral Music in germany, especially the support of the International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf and the festival Musica Sacra International Marktoberdorf

The Consortium of German Choral Associations is supported by the Federal State Minister for the Arts and the Media and the Cultural Foundation of the Federal States supplemented by project funds from the Federal states and the Federal State Minister for the Arts and the Media.
