The Marktoberdorf Whitsun festivals, International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf and Musica Sacra International have since 1989 become a valuable part of Allgäu cultural life. Their fame has spread far beyond the borders of the region. Every year at Whitsun, the opportunity to experience the meeting of first class music and people attracts a whole international crowd of artists and audiences to come to Marktoberdorf. Anyone who has experienced one of the concerts of these festivals knows what sort of treasure has grown up here. However, as with many things involved in art, the maintenance of the Marktoberdorf Whitsun festivals can by no means be taken for granted. The costs incurred could not for many years now be covered by the voluntary public contributions and the concert earnings. So the private involvement of ordinary men and women who value the continuing existence if this musical jewel gains in importance year for year.

The association Internationale Chorbegegnungen im Allgäu e.V. supports the international meetings of the festivals Musica Sacra International and the International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf. It supports the contacts and meeting together of creative artists from all over the world as well as helping projects involved in caring for and developing musical activities.
